Teaching monks in Nepal is a part of our Gap Year volunteer in Nepal programme. You will impart English, computer skills, and sports knowledge to a group of young monk students from varied backgrounds. The monks that reside there come from Buddhist-affiliated households. The kids are frequently from underprivileged homes in Nepal's mountainous areas. The monastery offers the young monks lodging, nourishment, and education. Young monks also learn Buddhism and practice numerous rites while living in the monastery.
However, many monasteries lack the resources needed to hire qualified English teachers, despite the fact that many monks are eager to learn English as part of their education. Government teachers are only allowed to teach these monk kids for a short period of time each day in English, and the majority of them are not well-versed in the topic, so very little learning occurs. As a result, there is a critical need for native English speakers to teach these children the fundamentals of the language and give them the much-needed confidence that comes from a greater awareness of the outside world. You can anticipate learning a few things from these fascinating individuals during the programme because this initiative is about as close as two completely different worlds can get to interacting.

Monastery Volunteer Programs
Monks spend the majority of their day participating in rituals and worship, but during their two-hour lunch break—which may be extended to six hours if necessary—you will have the option to present your own programme of educational activities. The monks range in age from five to eighteen. The older monks, who are above the age of twenty, do occasionally participate in the classes. The monks are delighted to learn from and about you, and they greatly welcome this diversion in their routine. In order to give the students the chance to learn from you and to give you a closer glimpse of monastery life, we ask you to develop engaging, imaginative, and enjoyable Teaching Volunteer Abroad.
Please keep in mind that there are very few teaching resources available (most classes are typically simple with a blackboard). In addition to some basic grammatical lessons, classes will cover the fundamentals of speaking, reading, and writing English. Although anyone who is interested in teaching or who has decent English abilities should apply, we prefer students who have finished a TEFL course to be able to work in such a setting.
